A plain-English summary of what we collect when someone gives feedback, and why.

What we collect from people giving feedback

  • Their answer: the face they tapped, any quick reasons they picked, and any comment they chose to write.
  • Where and when: which feedback spot and location they used, and the time.
  • Rough location: country, region and city, worked out from the internet (IP) address.
  • Device details: phone, tablet or computer, operating system, browser, language and time zone, and the website that sent them (for website buttons).
  • Internet address: kept for 90 days to stop spam and repeated answers, then deleted automatically. The rough location stays.

What we don't collect

We don't ask for names, phone numbers or email addresses on feedback pages. Staff feedback workspaces are anonymous and never keep internet addresses.

Smiley boxes

Box presses record only the face, any reason picked on screen devices, the time and where the box is. No personal data is collected.

Why we collect it

To show businesses how people feel at each place and time, spot problems, and prevent fake or repeated answers.

Who can see it

Only the business running the feedback and the Tapp team for support. We don't sell data.

WhatsApp

When a business sends you a feedback request on WhatsApp, we keep your name and number as the business gave them, the messages in that conversation, and whether you agreed to messages. Reply STOP at any time and no more requests are sent.

Your rights

Under Kenya's Data Protection Act, 2019 you can ask to see or delete data about you.

Delete your data

Email [email protected] with the subject “Delete my data” and the phone number or email the data is linked to. We confirm and delete it within 30 days, and tell the business you gave feedback to. To stop WhatsApp messages straight away, reply STOP in the chat.
